Chapter 21: EXERCISES ”ORIENTATE THE MAP” - Star-O, three controls

Orientate the map (Star-O, Courses A-E)

THIS IS A VERY GOOD activity both to develop the technique of orientating the map and to develop students’ fitness when the students have managed the green difficulty level. The exercise is great to perform as an interval session. One course per map. Students can work in pairs or in groups during warm up by putting out control markers.

THE TEACHER DIRECTS students from the start/ finish (same location). The teacher reminds the students ”Thumb your map” and especially ”red to red”. The message to the students is: - Navigate to all controls, punch and run at full speed back from the last control to finish.

Course E

COURSE E APPLIED to all controls from courses A-D. This is a bonus course for those who have reached a higher technical level.
